Magnus Black Box theatre to greet the crowd, the muffled sound of hammers and shuffling began emanating from behind the pristine faux apartment walls.

The cast of Winona State University's production of "Sylvia" finally put their hard work to the test: It's show time
It’s just before 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19 and a single bank of make-up lights remains switched on for any last-minute touchups in the basement of Winona State University’s Performing Arts Center. The rustling of an actor can be heard in the restroom as final costumes are donned and Alex Jung, assistant stage manager for WSU’s production of “Sylvia,” bolts into the room.

The Dorothy B. Magnus Black Box theatre is nearly silent, despite the fact that participants in rehearsals have just about doubled in numbers. The three main actors of “Sylvia” huddle not as a group running lines, but individually, murmuring to themselves and clutching their over-highlighted and worn scripts in hand.
