    Ever since Robert and Steven Tofstad started playing T-ball at age five, the fraternal twins have been a package deal—playing on the same teams, sharing victories and losses and supporting each other along the way.

  •  Winona State University is about to get scarier.

    Strobing lights poor out of a 60x30 tent in the middle of the WSU campus courtyard as WSU’s Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity prepares for the debut of its haunted house fundraiser.

    The haunted house is scheduled from 7-11p.m. Friday on the WSU campus with a $5 entry fee. The majority of the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude’s Hospital.

    “I don’t have a plan when I draw; I just pick up a pencil and go with whatever flows onto the paper,” said Eric Upham.

    The scent of incense and candles fill the air while Upham, a graphic design student and sophomore at Winona State University, creates his next masterpiece, with the sound of dubstep, rap and classic rock playing in the background. He said he best expresses his talent by creating work inside his bedroom, with the lighting nice and dark; he enjoys the darkness.

  • Sidonia Dudval sashays across the stage in her black chiffon, V-neck dress, bright red shoes with jeweled heels glistening in the spotlight and a frizzed out mane of hair. She demands attention from her audience.

    She rules the stage and the backstage. She sits behind the curtain obsessively scanning the schedule of Rochester Girls Inc. dancers and performance times while rifling through her bags trying to find the right lipstick or perfect necklace for her next performance of the evening.

  • Yesterday, I began setting up Bee Glad... for use in queen rearing. I am following the methods outlined by Susan Cobey in an article available on the internet. I did the following things:

    1. Confined the queen to the boxes below the queen excluder on the Cloake board.

    2. In the box above the excluder, I placed:

    a. a couple of frames of open brood.
    b. frames of nectar/pollen near where the grafts will be placed.

  • Global warming? What global warming? It's 10 below zero and we just got 10 inches of new snow!
