GRSF to receive Visit Winona’s Annual Tourism Award

Visit Winona will present its Annual Tourism Award to the Great River Shakespeare Festival on Tuesday, April 19, at the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street.  The event will take place between 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. with a short program starting at 6 p.m.  Guest speaker will be John Edman, director of Explore Minnesota Tourism, spokesperson for the state’s tourism office.

“Visit Winona is delighted to recognize and honor GRSF with its Tourism Award.  Since its debut in 2004, GRSF has inspired an “arts explosion” in Winona, bringing national media attention, attracted tens of thousands of visitors to our area, collaborated with local organizations and businesses on an array of education and outreach programs, and contributed significantly to Winona’s cultural, social,  and economic life,” said Visit Winona director, Pat Mutter.

The evening also celebrates area tourism partners collaborating to promote Winona as a year-round travel destination.  Sponsors for the event include Winona County History Center, Signatures Restaurant, Winona Health, and Steak Shop Catering.

Join us on this occasion to honor GRSF, and learn more about tourism in the Winona area. Appetizers and a cash bar will be available.
